Your privacy matters to us. Notepad Online is designed to be as private as possible. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, what we don't, and how sharing works.
What We Don't Collect
We do not collect, store, or track any of the following:
- Your name, email, or any personal information
- Your writing or note content (unless you click Share)
- Your IP address or browsing history
- Cookies or tracking pixels
We have no user accounts, no login system, and no way to identify who you are. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking tools.
Local Storage (Auto-Save)
When you type in the editor, your notes are saved automatically in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device only. We cannot access it, and it is never sent to any server. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.
Shared Notes
When you click the Share button, the content of your note is uploaded to our database and a unique link is generated. Please be aware of the following:
- Shared notes are public. Anyone with the link can read the note. Do not share sensitive information such as passwords, personal data, financial details, or confidential business information through shared notes.
- Shared notes are stored indefinitely unless we remove them. We may add auto-expiration in the future.
- We cannot identify who created a shared note. No user data is attached to shared notes.
- Shared note IDs are random UUIDs (36-character codes). They cannot be guessed or listed by anyone.
Sensitive Data Warning
Do NOT use Notepad Online to write or share:
- Passwords, API keys, or secret tokens
- Credit card numbers or bank account details
- Social security numbers or government IDs
- Medical records or health information
- Confidential business or legal documents
- Any personally identifiable information (PII) about yourself or others
While your local notes are private (stored only in your browser), shared notes are accessible to anyone with the link. Treat shared notes like a public post.
Vercel Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, which collects anonymous, aggregated visitor data such as page views, referrers, and country. It does not use cookies, does not track individual users, and does not collect any personal information. This data helps us understand how many people visit the site.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Vercel — Hosting and anonymous analytics
- Supabase — Database for shared notes only
- Google Fonts — Font delivery (subject to Google's privacy policy)
Children's Privacy
Notepad Online does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since we don't collect personal data from anyone, this applies to all users equally.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
